The headquarters of the Ecomuseu de Barroso in Pitões das Júnias, was the first museological space created in villages and is housed in the old "corte do boi".
In this space stand out thematic patents such as pastoralism, the “vezeira”, weaving, mountain agriculture, the methods of local production, traditional agricultural implements, the ethnographic heritage, "boi do povo", the Iberian wolf, the Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês (PNPG), amongst others.
Upstairs are depicted the tasks of women in "house governance" and, on the ground floor, the crafts and duties of men, the theme of "boi do povo" and communitarian activities.
Here begins a cultural route that passes through the community oven, still in operation, the mill, the “canastro”, sundial and diverse ethnographic heritage properties within the village. This headquarter has a small shop selling local crafts and organic land products.
The visit can be extended to the Santa Maria das Júnias monastery and thee waterfall. Some footpath courses start from this location, based on the interpretation center of Mourela, old shelter house, located close to the village.
