Housed in a former manor-house that belonged to the captain of the village, representative of authority and power at a local level, this headquarter of the Ecomuseu Barroso in Salto, represents some of the most iconic traditional activities.
In this space, over a thousand pieces were collected, processed and inventoried. These were donated by the inhabitants of the parish, and made possible for this headquarters to become an ethnographic center that allows a visit to depict what would be a typical barrosã home. The addressed topics are varied: the “barrosã” breed of cows, that is native, the manual and animal-drawn farm implements, the bread cycle, the Barroso kitchen, the cycle of wool and linen, wolfram mines of Borralha and D. Nuno Alvares Pereira, a Sir in the lands of Barroso. This site has a toy library, a library and a shop of local products.
